OverviewThis study was deemed essential by PALMAFRIQUE's management, given the steady decline in production received at the ELOKA oil mill over the past several years; a decline attributed partly to competition and partly to the dissatisfaction of most farmers, who are unhappy with the services provided by their partner. The objective was to assess the current services provided by PALMAFRIQUE and its competitors, identify the socio-economic factors influencing the rate at which farmers deliver their crops to PALMAFRIQUE, and make recommendations that would enable PALMAFRIQUE to increase the volume of production received from them. To achieve this objective, two analytical methods seemed important and necessary to us: SWOT analysis and econometric analysis. These analyses enabled us to make recommendations to PALMAFRIQUE to expand its vehicle fleet, provide guidance to farmers, maintain access roads, and implement a policy that will allow them to pay farmers promptly. In addition, marketing-related proposals were made to enable PALMAFRIQUE to operate effectively in rural communities.
