OverviewRemote sensing products are the basic tool used to map vegetation and environmental impacts, among other things. Orbital images are the most commonly used for analysing these attributes due to their diverse multispectral, multitemporal and multispatial characteristics. The Cerrado, the ""Brazilian savannah"", is one of the most threatened biomes in the world, with more than 50% of its area already deforested or altered. Determining the frequency and severity of fire is essential for establishing a fire management plan in the Cerrado's protected areas. These results need to be used as criteria for preserving different phytophysiognomies, and further studies need to be conducted to recover areas that suffer from frequent fires. Although the Cerrado is an ecosystem adapted to fire, fires cause serious problems that affect huge areas. That is why fire has played a central role in the establishment and creation of many environmental protection areas.
