He has published articles in Inverse Problems, Journal of Mathematical Physics, and other journals in mathematics, mathematical physics, and applied mathematics. His research interests include scattering and inverse scattering problems, integrable evolution equations, and related topics. He received his Ph.D. degree in mathematical physics from Indiana University in Bloomington. Sergei Avdonin is Professor of Mathematics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. His main research areas are controllability of distributed parameter systems, nonharmonic Fourier series, and inverse problems of mathematical physics. His recent publications are related to control and inverse problems for quantum graphs. In 2012 Prof. Avdonin received the Usibelli research award as the best researcher of the year at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Ricardo Weder is a senior researcher and a professor of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, México City. He is also an emeritus National Researcher of Sistema Nacional de Investigadores, CONAHCYT, México. His main research areas are functional analysis and mathematical physics. He does research in operator theory, direct and inverse spectral and scattering theories, ordinary and partial differential equations, and discrete equations. He also works in the areas of quantum mechanics, scattering of particles and fields, quantum field theory, and wave propagation. He is the author of many high-quality journal articles, proceeding papers, and book chapters. He has authored two research monographs, and he has also been the editor of two research monographs. He has served and is also currently serving as a member of the editorial board for several leading international journals in mathematics and in physics.
