In 1986 he joined Central Water Commission, Ministry of Water Resources, New Delhi obtaining an M.Tech. in Applied Mechanics in 1992. At UNESCO-IHE, Delft, The Netherlands he studied Hydraulic Engineering, specializing in River Basin Development, and obtained his MSc with distinction in 1994. In his PhD dissertation he develops a network synthesis approach for analysis and control of flows in pressurized hydraulic networks, which is applied to both steady state and transient flows in hydraulic pipe networks.
