È stato condotto un esperimento in un motore diesel monocilindrico, a quattro tempi, raffreddato ad aria e a iniezione diretta, utilizzando gasolio, estere metilico di olio di semi di cotone (CSOME), miscele di gasolio e CSOME nelle proporzioni 20%/80%, 40%/60%, 60%/40%, 80%/20%, 50%/50% in volume. Il biodiesel di semi di cotone ha una buona stabilità all'ossidazione, ma scarse proprietà a bassa temperatura. Le prestazioni, la combustione e le caratteristiche di emissione del CSOME, delle miscele di diesel e CSOME devono essere confrontate con i risultati ottenuti con il carburante diesel di riferimento.
