OverviewThis book is the product of more than 60 years and 700,000 miles of riding experience coupled with decades of studying and teaching rider education. In my riding life, I have learned that the better educated a rider is to identify, analyze and reduce risk, the more often close calls or accident become a managed events. I have spent decades analyzing motorcycle accidents and can say with confidence that, with rare exception, they are preventable. My hope is that by imparting this wisdom to the readers, more motorcyclists will ride a lifetime without serious incident. I dedicate this book to my grandfather, Joseph R. Ryan (featured on the front cover), who was the first Harley Davidson Factory Service Manager. Over the course of more than one million factory documented miles on a Harley, he fanned the flames of my love for all things motorcycle. I will never forget my first ride in his sidecar outfit as a child.
