Parasites in fish are natural elements of the aquatic ecosystem. Both in natural waters and aquaculture facilities quite a number of parasites are found. The present book outlines important aspects of the parasitic diseases of wild and cultured trout. Due to the rela-tively broad host spectrum of the parasites the information is applicable to other salmonids as well. Thus, the treated parasites can infect more or less successfully, brown trout, brook trout, rainbow trout, Arctic charr, Atlantic salmon and Pacific salmon. For each parasite type valuable information on the cause of the disease, the life cycle of the parasite, the symp-toms, how one can recognize the parasite, how the disease can be treated and how it can be prevented is pre-sented. A large number of illustrations (photographs and line drawings) will facilitate comprehension of the text.
