Shaowen Shou is a professor in the College of Atmospheric Science at University of Information Science &Technology (former Nanjing Meteorological Institute). He graduated from Peking University in 1963, majoring in synoptic and dynamic meteorology. He was the deputy head of the Department of Meteorology, a member of the Faculty Council and Academic Committee of Nanjing Meteorological Institute, a member of the Aeronautical Meteorology Committee of the Chinese Meteorological Society, and a member of the first Academic Committee of the Wuhan Institute of Heavy-rain Storm Research of the China Meteorological Administration. His research fields cover synoptic meteorology, mesoscale atmospheric dynamics, tropical cyclones, torrential rain, strong convective weather, etc. He has published more than 200 papers and more than 10 monographs or textbooks and gained some special honors awarded by Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the State Council of the People's Republic of China. Shenshen Li is an associate professor in the College of Atmospheric Science at University of Information Science &Technology (former Nanjing Meteorological Institute). She graduated from Peking University in 1965. Her major is synoptic and dynamic meteorology. Her research fields cover synoptic meteorology, mesoscale atmospheric dynamics, tropical cyclones, torrential rain, strong convective weather, etc. She has published more than 100 papers and 5 monographs or textbooks. Yixuan Shou is a professor in the National Satellite Meteorological Center, CMA. She received the Ph.D. degree in atmospheric science from the Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology in 2007. Her research fields cover satellite meteorology, mesoscale dynamics, mesoscale numerical modeling, atmospheric remote sensing, aeronautical meteorology and urban meteorology, etc. Her research interest includes dynamic diagnose of troposphere disturbance, detection of atmospheric parameters, plateau vortexes, heavy rain on shear line, urban heat island , upper and lower level jet streams and satellite application for nowcasting and short-term weather forecasting. She is currently working on convective imitation, tropopause folding and related scientific issues. So far, she has undertaken 5 National Science Foundation projects and National 863 programs. She has published more than 30 articles in the international academic and practitioner journals and 5 monographs or textbooks in Chinese.   Xiuping Yao is a professor in the Training Centre of CMA. She received her Ph. D. degree in atmospheric science from Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2007. Her research fields cover synoptic and dynamic meteorology, mesoscale atmospheric dynamics, radar meteorology, heavy rain and strong convective weather, etc. Her research interest includes heavy rain and severe convection, plateau weather systems, shear line precipitation systems, subtropical and tropical systems, typhoon, etc. So far, she has undertaken 10 more National Science Foundation projects and National 863 programs. She has published nearly 50 articles in the international academic and practitioner journals and 6 monographs or textbooks in Chinese. Since 2019, she has been the expert of the BIP-M/MT, WMO.
