Roy Oram's life was an astonishing journey that took him from Victorian London, through the battlefields of World War I, to post-Revolution Russia, India under the British Raj, China, Mandate Palestine, then Egypt and Europe during the Second World War, and finally back to post-war Britain. Having qualified as a doctor during the First World War, Oram started his career on the battlefield, and stayed with the Royal Army Medical Corps until he retired as a Brigadier.
