OverviewOpen this Alphabet of Birds and step into a world of imaginative bird portraits by award-winning nature artist Judith Lopez. Presented in the style of an illuminated manuscript, and in alphabetical order, each letter is accompanied by a fascinating glimpse into the diverse lives and habits of the various species. Birds are not the only creatures that fly, but they are unique in having feathers, exquisitely designed and colored by nature. And in all the fauna of creation, only birds can sing songs that resonate in the human heart. It is no wonder that people have long associated birds with beauty and the freedom of the skies. This collection of 26 birds includes delightful portraits of the Barn Owl, Egret, Hummingbird, and Peacock. As a fine arts printmaker, Judith has shown her etchings in west coast galleries as well as juried museum exhibits. Her artwork is represented in the permanent collection of the Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor. A previously published award-winning illustrator of Dancers in the Garden, this is her first book as writer and illustrator. An Alphabet of Birds is a book for readers of all ages. Adults will appreciate the art of the paintings, and children will enjoy learning their ABCs while identifying the letter in each picture.
