Reviews

Among the Waves by Angelo Razafimamonjy is a remarkable tale adapted from the true story of Bob Hobman. It features the ventures and challenges of a man called Bob who seeks answers about ancient maritime voyages. Moving on, this story takes us through Bob's exciting and authentic voyage to Madagascar on a huge canoe named 'Sarimanok'. The author has exemplified important moral values such as courage and curiosity about the unknown, throughout the journey of Bob and his crew to Madagascar. The pluck and perseverance shown by the characters during the final paddle to the island of Madagascar were especially inspiring. In my opinion, the plot of the story has been developed reasonably well although it could benefit from further elaboration on the crew members or the obstacles they faced throughout their voyage. I liked how the book showed realistic struggles during the voyage yet the reader still gets lost in the exciting details of the adventures. Apart from that, the charming illustrations also play a vital part in engaging the interest of young readers. The ending of the story was well written and successfully created a sense of intrigue and mystery regarding the characters' future adventures. Overall, this book was enjoyable and fascinating to read, therefore I give it four out of five stars. Vaiishnavi
