Overview

A thrilling new adventure into the glittering realm of the jinn from the author of Nura and the Immortal Palace. Amir has lived all his life in splendour, being the son of a wealthy businessman. But when his mother disappears at his father’s factory, Amir is the only one who feels sure she’s not gone forever. When a strange jinn shows up on his doorstep with clues to his mother’s whereabouts, Amir finds himself following Shamsa into the realm of the jinn – a world of trickery, tests and deceit. But could his mother also be hiding in this world of pink seas and purple skies, and could a jinn princess be his key to finding her?

Khan is seriously skilled when it comes to creating transporting, fantastical worlds, but Amir and the Jinn Princess is also a meditation on grief and a warning about unfettered capitalism. * The Bookseller * Pakistani folklore informs this twisty, fantastical tale of dynastic pressures and internecine strife, in which Amir’s eyes are opened to extractivist [removal of natural minerals from the earth] wrongdoings and the imperative to trust in those who share your values. * The Guardian * Oh my gosh! What a powerful and beautifully written book. This story brought me to tears. A magical, enchanting adventure. It is filled with gorgeous imagery, warmth, and charm. It is more than this, though. Deep down, this story is about how we see and treat people who are less fortunate than us. Which end of the moral compass we sit on. How power and riches corrupt, and that your destiny doesn't have to be chosen for you. To fight for what you truly believe in. To do better. I could gush about this book so much more, and my review will never give this story enough praise. I think this book and its messages should be read in schools to children. I'm so glad I got to read it. It will forever stay with me. * NetGalley Reviewer * This is a gripping go-getter, ‘set fire on the pages and let the reader gasp’ page turner, an enchanted adventure... The setting and the action are cool, The writing style is a great fit for younger readers. * NetGalley Reviewer * A great, fast paced adventure about learning to be yourself despite your background, standing up for yourself and others and generally being kind... a nice read with some really great moral teachings. Impressed and I recommend it! * NetGalley Reviewer *
