OverviewThe epic prequel continues. The year is 1452. The civil trial and holy inquisition which followed the deadly duel in Verona are done. The House of Montecchi seems broken, their fallen prima donna now vanished as Romeo's father and mother take control of their embattled faction. And though the Capulets have emerged as victors, Armand and Ilaria must make a critical decision. Promising limitless power and prestige, their unpredictable new associate, Duchess Yolanthe de Paris, is pressing them to commit to a breathtaking trade alliance. But as the mercenary young siren attempts to tighten her grip on the Capulets, she also insists that life-changing conditions must be attached to their agreement. What's more, her staggering offer can only be contemplated if some kind of lasting peace can be negotiated with the Montecchis, just at the moment their reputation appears to have been crushed by the Capulets. A cascade of fateful events unfold which draw the epic journey on as the lure of potential and promises spurs elite ambitions. Particularly for Ilaria de Capulet - daughter of merchants - hoping to create an empire with Armand that her parents would find inspiring. A provocative challenge from Prince Escalus and Princess Florentia may hold the key to just how promising those hopes may be. Yet hidden from all sight, hope is stirring in other hearts too, a much darker hope, driven by a ruthless sense of ambition. I've already ordered Book 2 - Verona and can't wait to see how the series unfolds.' Samantha M.I'm already reading Book 3 of CAPULET. I find Marcus Hogan's style to be poetic and fluid, the actions and characters drew me into their story immediately. I can easily imagine the scenes in every chapter translating to the screen. I enjoyed the contrast of characters in Book 1, the emotions of a young Ilaria in love, the responsibilities of Armand, destined for war with great familial expectations, and the bold cheeky 'Fool' Marcel who narrates their journey. I particularly like the sense of intrigue woven in with Ilaria's dark premonitions and unexpected encounters with mystics. This is a drama-filled read, full of wonderful dialogue which I would highly recommend to any reader. I feel men and women would both enjoy it.Cassandra A. What a ripping read so far. I had little expectation diving into Book 1 but was greatly surprised and am onto Book 3. It's funny and adventurous. Marcel is a hoot. And the scenes leap to life like it was playing on a big screen. The language is stylised but easy to read and follow, not like trying to handle Shakespeare in High School at all. My thumbs are up for Books 1 2 and 3. Can't wait for 4. Gary H. Author InformationTab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
