In the early centuries, the church was exclusively responsible for the counseling of its people. However, in today's society there is a perception that the Christian community is not qualified to counsel its people. There is a belief we (the Christian community) do not have any solutions to human problems such as depression, anxiety, abnormal stress, etc. The truth of the matter is that no one is better qualified to counsel than those who know and understand man's unique position in God's plan. Dr. Carr is senior pastor of Abundant Life International Church, in Newport News, Virginia. He is a devoted father and husband and has been in the ministry for over 25 years. He has earned a Bachelor's degree in Theology, a Master's degree in Pastoral Counseling, and a Doctorate in Religious Education. Dr. Carr is a Clinical Pastoral Counselor with advance certification with the National Christian Counselors Association and Sarasota Academy.
