Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationOcéane Sailly is the founder and director of Hunna Art, an independent contemporary art gallery committed to amplifying the voices of a new generation of women artists from or connected to the Arabian Peninsula. She is also a curator and researcher and has been since 2023 the Artistic Director of the Failaka Institute for Knowledge and Arts Research (FIKAR). Sulayman Al Bassam is a Kuwaiti playwright, theatre director and actor. He is widely recognised as one of the world's leading contemporary Arab theatre makers. Al Bassam is also the founder of FIKAR, a non-profit organization that operates as a think tank and artistic production platform to usher new narratives, forms of research and expressions, and experiments in response to contemporary global issues. Genevieve Hyacinthe is an Assistant Professor of History of Art and Visual Culture and a member of the MFA Fine Art Faculty at California College of the Arts in San Francisco. Hyacinthe’s recent book, Radical Virtuosity: Ana Mendieta and the Black Atlantic, was published by MIT Press in 2019. Dr. Julie Bonnéric is an archaeologist, currently a researcher at the French Institute of the Near East (Ifpo) and head of the Amman branch (Jordan). She has been the co-director of the French-Kuwaiti Archaeological Mission in Failaka since 2014 and director of the Jarash Eastern Project in Jordan since 2022. Founded in 2020 by Wadha Al-Aqeedi and Elina Sairanen, Mathqaf is a research-based platform and curatorial collective dedicated to documenting, publishing, curating, collaborating, and championing modern and contemporary art from West Asia and North Africa.
