The book is identical to the regular edition which has been available for many years.The WORKBOOK is designed to be used with either of Samuel L. Blumenfeld's two great phonics reading instruction textbooks: Alpha-Phonics a Primer for Beginning Readers or his How To Tutor. This Workbook provides EXTRA PRACTICE work for your student using either of Sam Blumenfeld's two phonics reading instruction books. Follows the phonics reading instruction of both teaching books lesson by lesson and provides a wide range of extra practice exercises for your student. Covers all lessons. Includes: fill in the word, match words, find missing words, matching words with illustrations or misspelled words and many more types of very reinforcing practice exercises. While optional, the workbook has been found by many to be very helpful in teaching phonics reading to students. You do not need to be an expert to use this Phonics Workbook. Just like Alpha-Phonics and How To Tutor, the reading instruction textbooks, anyone who can read can definitely teach anyone else to read. Barbara was for many years a professional Tutor in the Detroit area. She felt the need for something extra to be used with some of her students. With Sam Blumenfeld's blessing, she created this Phonics Workbook to accompany Blumenfeld's two phonics reading instruction books. The Phonics Workbook has 53 pages and offers extra practice exercise for every lesson in either of the two instruction textbooks. Some special features of the Phonics Workbook are: (1.) General overall instructions, (2.) Numerous practice Tests plus Answers included (3.) Syllabication Section with 7 pages of instruction and practice on learning how to divide words into syllables (which is very helpful in learning to read and in developing an enlarged vocabulary), (4.) Sturdy Perfect Binding so the pages will not come out. (5.) Exercises include many interesting, reinforcing and skill building exercises like: fill in the missing word, find the misspelled word, circle the word that has a certain feature in it such as a silent (h), plurals vs. singulars, match words that go together from a list of words, circle a correct word after being given a clue, underline words containing a long vowel, determine what letter is missing from the word and many others.
