OverviewStarting in the aftermath of the Shoah a renewal of Christian theology and the churches' relationship towards Judaism is under way in Germany and abroad. Within this movement the idea of offering students of Christian theology the chance to spend a year of study at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem was realized in 1977. Since 1978 up to twenty students per year (from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and other European countries) make use of this unique opportunity to look into the vivid plurality of Judaism in its past and present. The present volume brings to mind historical aspects of this initiative: contexts, crucial theological teachers and supporters, as well as some of its results. At the same time, the book offers discussions of current theological questions within Jewish-Christian encounter.
