Eddie grew up in Brandon, Mississippi. While in college and working with Youth for Christ in Jackson, he met his future wife, Wesley Heard. They have three children and nine grandchildren. At Mississippi College Eddie studied English Literature and Philosophy. He majored in Old Testament and Semitics at Dallas Theological Seminary and received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Covenant Theological Seminary.
