Author Information

Iryna Vikyrchak is a Ukrainian poet, writer, translator, and culture manager. Before Algometry, she published a poetry collection titled, Conversation with an Angel (2004) and a bilingual poetry album, Time Train: Chernivtsi-Prague-Vienna (2011). A native of Western Ukraine, Vikyrchak has lived in Chernivtsi, Kyiv, and Lviv, and moved around Europe for her writing and career in culture management. In Wroclaw, she worked closely with the Nobel Prize Laureate in Literature, Olga Tokarczuk, before moving to France and India. Nina Murray is a Ukrainian-American poet and translator. She is the author of the poetry collections Glapthorn Circular (LiveCanon Poetry, 2023) and Alcestis in the Underworld (Circling Rivers Press, 2019) as well as several chapbooks. Grace Mahoney is a translator, scholar, and the series editor of the Lost Horse Press Contemporary Ukrainian Poetry Series. She has translated A Field of Foundlings by Iryna Starovoyt (Lost Horse Press 2017) and works by Liudmyla Khersonska, Svitlana Povaliaieva, Elena Shvarts, and Yuri Izdryk, which have appeared in literary journals and anthologies. Her translation of Victoria Amelina's novel Dom's Dream Kingdom received a Translation-in-Progress Grant from the Peterson Literary Fund (2023) and has excerpts published in Absinthe and Brick. She holds her PhD in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of Michigan.
