She was born in Weaverville, N.C. She graduated from Western Carolina University where she received a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education. She taught elementary school for a total of twenty-five years. She taught twenty-one years in Florida, three years in South Carolina, and one year in Texas. When she moved to Charlotte in 1989, she was hired as a substitute teacher in the Mecklenburg School System.She also began working for her sister Peggy Burrell and her husband Harold. They owned a dry cleaning, alteration, and tuxedo rental business which was located in Cornelius N.C. Glenda enjoyed working there because she got to do a variety of different jobs and she got to meet and talk to a lot of friendly and interesting people. Also, because Glenda worked only part-time for her sister, she was able to be a caregiver for her mother after her father died in 1984. Because Glenda's mother lived in Florida and Glenda lived in N.C., Glenda spent a lot of time driving up and down interstate 95 from N.C. to Florida and back to N.C. Glenda's mother lived to the age of 101. She died in 2005 at her home in Florida.At the present time, Glenda still resides in Charlotte, N.C. where she enjoys reading, writing, playing the piano, gardening, and traveling.About the Illustrators""Alex's Birthday Surprises"" was mostly illustrated by Glenda Colleen Gambill, however, one page was illustrated by Sandy Seawright.Sandy Seawright attended The University of North Carolina in Charlotte and he also attended Winthrop University where he received a Liberal Arts Degree.
