David M. Fahey, PhD, is professor emeritus of history at Miami University, Oxford, OH. He is coeditor of ABC-CLIO's Alcohol and Temperance in Modern History: An International Encyclopedia. Fahey holds a doctorate in history from the University of Notre Dame. Jon S. Miller, PhD, is associate professor of English at The University of Akron, Akron, OH.
