Alan Ayckbourn (* 12. April 1939 in Hampstead, London) ist ein britischer Autor von Theaterkomodien. Alan Ayckbourn schrieb bereits im Alter von zehn Jahren Stucke, begann allerdings Ende der 1950er Jahre als Schauspieler seine Theaterkarriere. Mittlerweile hat Ayckbourn 71 Theaterstucke geschrieben und gilt als einer der erfolgreichsten Komodienautoren der neueren Zeit in Europa. Seine Theaterstucke wurden in vierzig Sprachen ubersetzt. Zugleich arbeitete Ayckbourn als Regisseur.
