Overview

The patriotic sacrifice of Texas remembered. This tribute to the famous 13 day siege gives the stories of real-life heroes including David Crockett, Sam Houston, and William King (who, at 15 years old, was the youngest defender to die during the conflict.) These accounts, lacking in sensationalism, reveal the true characters in one of the most important events in Texas history. This reference includes a timeline of events.

William R. Chemerka is an award-winning educator, writer, lecturer, historical interpreter, and actor. He established the Alamo Society in 1986 and is the publisher and editor of the Alamo Journal. He has been an on-camera consultant for six History Channel productions about his favorite topic in American history. Chemerka lives in Barnegat, New Jersey. Wade Dillon focuses on Texas history every day as a member of the staff at the Alamo. As a self-taught artist, Dillon continues to perfect his craft as an illustrator inside his studio, having illustrated The Alamo from A to Z and Davy Crockett from A to Z for Pelican. When away from his studio, Dillon enjoys watching movies with his lovely wife, Lindsey, eating cheeseburgers with his chubby puppy, Harper, and cosplaying his favorite comic-book villains in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas.
