Akemi Tomoda came to Canada in 1970 from her native Japan, following her marriage to husband Ken. She did not speak English at the time. In the years since, she has studied English and art, particularly watercolour painting. She is a devout Christian and regularly journals her 'testimony' of God's blessings in her life. In 2011, she published Akemi's Journal. She lives in Mississauga, where she is busy with her favourite hobbies of gardening, sewing and Bible study.
