AJS & MATCHLESS 1948-1956 TWIN CYLINDER WORKSHOP AND PARTS MANUALS FOR THE 500cc & 600cc MODELS 20 - 30 - G9 & G11

Overview

130 pages with more than 55 illustrations, diagrams and charts, size 6.625 x 10.250 inches. This manual covers the 1948 to 1956 AMC 500cc and 600cc twin-cylinder AJS Model 20 and 30 and the Matchless Model G9 and G11.As most of the details that differentiate the AJS and Matchless models are minor and predominantly aesthetic and, in order to eliminate unnecessary duplication, we have only included reprints of the original AMC '1956 Matchless Super Clubman Workshop Manual' and the '1956 AJS Springtwin Illustrated Parts Manual'. PLEASE NOTE: While these are faithful reproductions of the original manuals, they have been increased in size by almost 25% in order to make them significantly more readable.Obviously, this manual will be of use to owners of any model year of the entire 1948 to 1961 production run of the 20, G9, 30 and G11 series. However, the reason it has an end date of 1956 is due to fact that the factory ultimately issued a combination workshop manual that covered all of the 1957 and later singles and twin-cylinder models. Unfortunately, as this later manual is inclusive of all models, the data for the earlier twin-cylinder machines is somewhat fragmented and not as focused as the earlier model specific manuals. However, owners of the 1957 and later 500cc and 600cc twins may also find the 1957 factory manual (ISBN 9781588502582) to be of use.A brief overview of the AJS Model 20 and 30 and the Matchless Model G9 and G11.The 20 and G9 500cc models were introduced in 1948 and remained in production until 1961. The 30 and G11 600cc models were introduced in 1955 and discontinued in 1958.The reason that the 30 and G11 models had such a short production run was due to the 1959 introduction of the 650cc Model 31 and G12 which basically obsoleted the 600cc series. The elimination of the 600cc models was likely a marketing decision in order to both reduce the number of different models available and also to bring the AJS and Matchless model range into the more commonly accepted 500cc and 650cc offerings.VelocePress.com has been publishing reprints of motorcycle and automobile manuals since 2003 and our publications have earned excellent reviews worldwide so you can be assured you are purchasing a quality product. We encourage you to exercise caution when purchasing a manual for your motorcycle or automobile as many of the reprints found on internet websites are from 'bedroom sellers' at enticingly low prices by individuals that really have no idea what they are selling. Many are nothing more than poor quality comb-bound or ring-bound photocopies that are scanned and printed complete with greasy pages and thumbprints and, as such, are deceptively described as 'pre-owned', 'used' or even 'refurbished'! In addition, they are often advertised for the incorrect series and/or model years. With more than 250 titles in print VelocePress is one of the fastest growing specialty automobile and motorcycle publishing companies in the USA.
