OverviewThis is my story. My raw, real, and unfiltered story. It is about the things I've lived through, the mistakes I have made, the people I have loved and lost, and the lessons that came the hard way. From the shambas of Migori, to the streets and shanties of Nairobi, and to the quiet corners of Naivasha and Mombasa, I have lived and lived through it all. From moments of laughter to nights that broke me, Agush Nyang is my journey of trying and failing, believing and giving up, hoping and praying and being disappointed, to telling myself f--- it, and starting it all, all over again. It is not a perfect story, it is just a true one! It is mine! I believe and you will agree with me that I am the unluckiest and the most horrible person who ever lived, but I decided to write this book and put it all out there, exactly as it all is, anyway. I really do not, and even when typing the first word of this [what would become a] memoir, did not have any motivation to. I do not want to encourage anyone. Nothing, absolutely nothing, in my story is worth emulating, really. But I do not care if it gets out and destroys everything for me, it already is all destroyed. I believe if I had some personal monetary or ""motivational lesson"" motive as motivation, I would not have written it this unfiltered, this raw and this true. I have lived through the mistakes and misfortunes. I have lost everything. I have not come out having won or encouraged or anything, really. That's in fiction books, not in my life story. My name is Isaac Agumba, but my friends call me Agush Nyang in praise. Agush being from Agumba while Nyang is a crocodile in Luo, my native language. I have had my unfair share of ups and downs, and this book is a piece of my heart. I wrote it to remember, to heal, and maybe to remind someone out there that no matter how bad it gets, it will get much worse, way worse. It will not make you stronger, no. They lied to you, friend. That motivational speaker, he lied to you dear. If anything, it will even kill you, as it has always almost did me.
