Within the past twenty years, facial soft-tissue augmentation with dermal filler products have become extremely popular. These products are usually considered safe, having mostly mild and transient adverse effects. However, serious complications related to injection injuries to relevant anatomic structures, such as nerves and vessels, can occur even in the hands of experienced injectors. The author was one of the first doctors in the world to reverse these changes by establishing a hyaluronidase protocol in 2005. Dr Patrick Treacy was awarded 'Top Global Aesthetic Doctor' (Las Vegas 2019) as well as 'Top Aesthetic Medical Aesthetic Practitioner UK & Ireland' (2019), earning himself a lifetime achievement place in the MyFaceMyBody 'Aesthetic Medicine Hall of Fame'. He was presented with an Honorary Fellowship in Cosmetic Surgery (Australia) (2022), specialist awards for 'Scientific Contributions to the Aesthetic Industry' (London), (2019), (2018), medical research awards by the British College of Aesthetic Medicine (2018), the Irish Healthcare Awards (2017), as well as a laureate from the Azerbaijani College of Aesthetic Medicine (2017) and the CCME Medal in Mexico for medical excellence (2016). He is the only doctor to have won the prestigious AMEC Award on three occasions (2019,2016,2014) and has been cited amongst the 'Ultimate 100 Global Aesthetic Leaders' for the past four years. He is visiting Professor of Dermatology, Isra University (Pakistan), chairman of the Ailesbury Humanitarian Foundation (Dublin), previous chairman of the Royal Society of Medicine Aesthetic Conference Committee (London) and serves on the editorial boards of six international aesthetic journals. He has pioneered research into epidermal regrowth by use of stem cells and PRP, reversal of dermal filler vascular occlusion with hyaluronidase and restoration of facial aesthetics in HIV patients. He is author of over fifty articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has contributed as editor to medical texts.
