Author Information
Doc JC is the youngest of six in a loving family of second-generation Jamaican Guatemalans, and is a California resident. She is a pediatric anesthesiologist graduate from Yale School of Medicine, and later became one of the co-founders of the Pediatric Palliative Care program at Yale Children's Hospital. She was the Director and Chair of the Comfort and Pain Management service at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, and is the founder of the pediatric anesthesia service for Outpatient Surgery Center and Cochlear Implants at a private, not-for-profit health center in Santa Monica, CA.Doc JC has participated in volunteer medical missions internationally and has been heavily involved in community agencies for underserved areas in the United States. She enjoys devoting her time to activities that enhance spiritual, mind-body presence, and caring for all beings on our planet. Her life commitment is to promote the use of children's superpowers, such as their imagination, in their healing journeys or challenging experiences. In this book, she hopes to help children better express their needs and feelings so they're ready and confident when they face medical procedures.
