OverviewA collection of humorous essays, tales as the author aptly names them, capturing the human condition as seen through the eyes of a lawyer as he assists his clients and friends. From his soul toughening law-school experiences to frightening verbal castigation at the hands of a Caribbean island finance minister, we see life as experienced by (mostly) ordinary people when they encounter the law. This is a first-rate and entertaining adventure in reading and I was enthralled by the humorous yet inclusive cases Tannenbaum has tackled over the decades in which he practiced law. Tannenbaum recounts 27 tales in a Reader's Digest short story fashion in which each character takes on a permanent life of his/her own, from Zuro, the irascible Greek, to the author's very own mother who judges clients as good or bad by her keen intuition alone. This book can easily be compared with Dr. Oliver Sachs' quirky case studies of his patients in his memorable book, The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. Prepare yourself for a roller coaster ride of weird stories and surprise endings. Let me assure you, you will love Adventures in the Law by David Harry Tannenbaum. It is an entertaining and compelling follow-up to his well-known Padre Island Mysteries.
