Author Information

J. M. Holmes was born and raised in Canada and educated in the Classics by Jesuits and nuns. Wholeheartedly endorsing Bertolt Brecht's aphorism that ""The one who laughs has not yet heard the terrible news"", J. M. Holmes prefers to go through life laughing, and stubbornly maintains a state of blissful ignorance in all matters except the welfare of the seven feral cats who have invaded the author's residence. Amateur beekeeper, film historian, long-distance bicyclist, author, computer whisperer, and the one person who knows how to fix all the world's problems, Holmes stubbornly defies categorization. When not tending to backyard beehives or rescuing birds and squirrels from bloodthirsty felines, Holmes enjoys correcting people's grammar, offering unsolicited advice, and engaging in other similarly-endearing behaviours. The author is doubly blessed in having two grown children - two inexhaustible fonts of criticism who ensure that Holmes never accidentally slips into a state of complacency, thanks to the rare and priceless wisdom which they have amassed in their teenage years. Francesco LaCerva was born more than half a century ago in Palermo on the beautiful island of Sicily, where he lives to this day. A childhood immersed in films, cartoons, books and comics inspired him to bring to life drawing - first on the walls of his house, and eventually on sheets of paper - the fantastic characters and worlds of fantasy and science fiction. Today Francesco supports his family, including three children, by working as an established architect. But between his daily commitments designing houses and other buildings, he still feeds his soul with a regular diet of books, comics, cartoons, and film. And ever faithful to his First Love, he dedicates his free time to illustration, never forgetting the passion that has always inspired him: drawing.
