Author Information

Eriko Matsumoto obtained her Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Department of Health Informatics, School of Public Health, Kyoto University. She places particular emphasis on global health equity and pursues both quantitative and qualitative research, including work on health data, information, and digital contexts, with attention to openness, to contribute to the development of sustainable global healthcare systems. Her research experience includes clinical studies on cancer and rare diseases, evidence-based clinical guideline methodology, and investigations into rare disease networks and patient and public involvement (PPI) particularly within Europe. She has published scholarly books on cancer and clinical research ethics guidelines, contributed to the compilation of an international medical encyclopedia, and undertaken editorial responsibilities with academic journals, including Nature. Building on these experiences, she integrates perspectives from global health and ethical, legal, and social issues (ELSI), including AI ethics, to address emerging challenges in global healthcare systems that serve humanity. Dr. Hdr. Frederic Andres received his Ph.D. in Information Systems from the University of Paris VI “Pierre et Marie Curie” in 1993 and his Dr. Habilitation in Informatics from the University of Nantes in 2000. Dr. Andres has served as an associate professor in the Digital Content and Media Sciences Research Division at the National Institute of Informatics (NII) in Tokyo, Japan, since 2000. He has authored over 150 papers in international journals and conferences. His major co-editor books are ” Impacts of Museums on Global Communication” (IGI-global publisher 2024), Assistive Technologies for Differently Abled Students (IGI-global publisher 2022) and Multiple Sensorial Media Advances and Applications: New Developments in MulSeMedia (IGI-global publisher 2011). His main research interests span collective intelligence-based knowledge, AI ethics, data science, supply chain innovation, and web-based science education for all. Since 2018, Dr. Andres has co-organized the International DECOR workshop in conjunction with IEEE ICDE. His team won the 1st prize in the IEEE Brain Data Bank Challenges and Competitions at COMPSAC 2018. On September 15, 2023, he received IEEE SA's CertifAIEd Authorized Lead Assessor recognition, and on October 22, 2023, he was named the “R10 Ethics Champion” by IEEE Region 10.
