Pranjib K. Chakrabarty, PhD, served as Assistant Director General (Plant Protection and Biosafety) and Member (Plant Sciences), ASRB, New Delhi. He did pioneer research on host–pathogen interaction, functional genomics, and diagnostics. He is an adjunct faculty of the University of Florida, Gainesville, and had postdoctoral research experience at the University of Florida, Gainesville, and the University of Missouri‑Columbia, USA. Kalyan K. Mondal, PhD, is Joint Director (Research) at ICAR‑NIBSM, Raipur. He is a visiting fellow at Stanford University, California, USA, and he has significantly contributed to the understanding of the role of bacterial Type‑3‑Secretion‑System (T3SS) effectors in the modulation of plant defense. Mahender S. Saharan, PhD, is the Head of the Division of Plant Pathology, ICAR‑IARI, New Delhi. He contributed significantly to the study of wheat pathology and actively participated in strategy implementation for managing wheat rusts and Karnal bunt. He worked in many international collaborative research projects, namely, ISCB, ACIAR, CIMMYT, and BBSRC. Charudatta Digambarrao Mayee, PhD, is a legendary plant pathologist who served as Vice Chancellor‑MAU Parbhani; Director‑Central Institute of Cotton, Nagpur; and Agriculture Commissioner, Government of India, New Delhi, before superannuating as the Chairman, ASRB, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India. Jagdish Kumar, PhD, is an Alexander Humboldt Fellow of Germany. He served as Joint Director of the School of Crop Health Biology Research and Director of ICAR‑NIBSM, Chhattisgarh. He has vast experience in developing plant disease forecasting models. He worked on the biochemical basis of host resistance in cereals.
