Reviews

"“Hostetler and Kahl have provided an engaging text for upper-division or honors speech and rhetoric classes, as well as a valuable supplement to any speechwriting course and a useful resource for campus communication centers. Advanced Public Speaking presents a clear case for the fundamentals of public speaking that cut across academic disciplines, career fields, civic life, and presentation formats. Notable strengths of the text include its attention to civility in a polarized populace and its chapter about delivering mediated, or ""on camera,"" speeches. Students will appreciate the real-world examples and instructors will appreciate the assignment suggestions provided throughout the volume.” - Christina M. Knopf, Ph.D.; Professor of Communication and Media Studies & Public Speaking Coordinator , State University of New York at Cortland “The 3rd edition of Advanced Public Speaking is at the forefront of texts on this important subject. Hostetler and Kahl have created a book that will inspire students and instructors alike. Public speaking is more than just entertainment or a job skill, but a function of leadership. In a world where people feel less connected, but need public speaking more than ever, this book builds both foundational principles and advanced skills that students can use in a variety of situations.” Jason A. Edwards, Ph.D.; Professor of Communication Studies, Bridgewater State University"
