Advanced Digital Architectures for Model-Driven Adaptive Enterprises

Overview

The five digital forces (mobility and pervasive computing, cloud, big data, artificial intelligence and robotics, and social media) are poised to bring great academic and industrial breakthroughs. All stakeholders want to understand how to best harness these forces to their advantage. While literature exists for understanding each force independently, there is a lack of knowledge on how to utilize all the forces together to realize future enterprises. Advanced Digital Architectures for Model-Driven Adaptive Enterprises is an essential reference source that explores the potential in unifying the five digital forces to achieve increased levels of agility, efficiency, and scale. Featuring coverage on a wide range of topics including socio-technical systems, adaptive architectures, and enterprise modeling, this book is ideally designed for managers, executives, programmers, designers, computer engineers, entrepreneurs, tool builders, digital practitioners, researchers, academicians, ands students at the graduate level.

Author Information

Vinay Kulkarni is a Chief Scientist of Tata Research Development and Design Centre (TRDDC) at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). He is a member of the TCS Corporate Technology Council that oversees all R&D and innovation activities at TCS. His research interests include model-driven software engineering, self-adaptive systems, and enterprise modeling. His work in model-driven software engineering has led to a toolset that has been used to deliver several large business-critical systems over the past 15 years. Much of this work has found way into OMG standards, three of which Vinay contributed to in a leadership role. Vinay has several patents to his credit, and has authored several papers in scholastic journals and conferences worldwide. He has served as the conference and program chairperson for the premier ACM and IEEE international conferences in the area of software engineering; and served as a technical program committee member for many international conferences. Vinay also serves as Visiting Professor at Middlesex University, London. Sreedhar Reddy is a Chief Scientist at Tata Research Development Design Centre of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). His research interests include model-driven software engineering and database systems. His work in model-driven software engineering has led to a toolset that has been used to deliver several large business-critical systems over the past 20 years. Sreedhar is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. Balbir Barn is a Professor of Software Engineering at Middlesex University, UK. Balbir has over 15 years commercial research experience working in research labs at Texas Instruments and Sterling Software, where he was involved in the research and design of leading software products such as the IEF™. Balbir’s research is focused on model driven software engineering where the goal is to use models as abstractions and execution environments to support enterprise architecture and application integration using complex events. He has led numerous externally funded projects which apply model driven principles to business processes, learning theories, and more recently, the theory building aspects to model driven engineering.
