From 2015 to 2017, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Laboratory of Electric Drives and Application Research (LEDER), Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada, and at Electric Energy Systems Laboratory (EESL), McGill University, Montreal, Canada, respectively. He is currently a Professor at School of Electrical Engineering, Southeast University, China. He has authored over 100 journal and conference papers, and 3 books as well, and held over 50 China Patents and 2 US patents. His main research interests include Topology, control, and protection techniques of renewable energy generation systems, Multi-terminal MMC-HVDC, High power density inverter design. Dr. Xiao has received Gold Medal from 47th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, 3 China Patent Excellence Awards, and First Prize of China Electric Power Technology Progress Award. He served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, and IET Power Electronics. He is also a IEEE Senior member and IEC member, and co-edited and published IEC TS 63217 and IEC TS 62910, currently, he is editing PV safety standard in terms of collected leakage current (IEC TS 63617).
