Author Information

Dr. Sunil Kumar is an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at Texas A&M University (TAMU), USA. He earned his Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering, specializing in nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics. His international experience includes developing radiation detectors at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), Switzerland and working on high-energy ion cleaning at the Max-Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics (MPIK), Germany. Dr. Kumar possesses expertise in experimental and computational heat and mass transfer, including heat exchangers, aerosol technologies, HVAC systems, and materials drying. His contributions span a range of impactful projects, such as developing passive safety systems for the Advanced Heavy Water Reactor (AHWR), enhancing heat exchanger performance, improving electronic cooling, modeling indoor environments, drying materials, and studying particulate emissions. A recognized expert in his field, Dr. Kumar has delivered numerous conference talks, served as an invited speaker, and contributed as an editorial panel member for the International Journal of Thermofluid Science and Technology (IJTST). He has also chaired sessions at the Thermal and Fluids Engineering Conference (TFEC) organized by the American Society of Thermal and Fluids Engineers (ASTFE) and has reviewed for prestigious journals. Dr. Kumar has published several peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters. Dr. Kavita Rathore is a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher and Stanton Nuclear Security Fellow at Texas A&M University, USA. She earned her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India, and is the first Indian woman to receive the prestigious Stanton Fellowship at Texas A&M University, awarded by the Stanton Foundation. Dr. Rathore’s expertise encompasses thermal fluid systems, nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics, heat exchangers, nuclear nonproliferation, and the application of plasma in energy generation, decontamination and heavy oil processing. Her research contributions are reflected in numerous peer-reviewed journal publications and presentations at national and international conferences, where she has been recognized with many awards. In addition to her academic accomplishments, Dr. Rathore holds two U.S. patents and one Indian patent. She has served as a peer reviewer for research journals, organized conferences, delivered numerous invited talks, and presented at prominent conferences worldwide. Dr. Rathore’s work exemplifies her dedication to advancing knowledge and innovation in energy, nuclear security, and application of plasma. Dr. Debjyoti Banerjee is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University (TAMU), USA. He was elected as a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in 2016, and as the Fellow/Dean’s Fellow of EnMED (the Inter-Collegiate School of Engineering Medicine) in 2019/2021. He was invited to the membership of the Scientific Council (SC) of International Committee on Heat and Mass Transfer (ICHMT) in 2023. He is currently an Associate Editor (AE) of the ASME Open Journal of Engineering (AOJE). He served as an AE for the ASME Journal of Energy Resources and Technology (JERT), as well as the international journal of Electronics. He also served as a Guest Editor (GE) of Special Issues (SIs) on Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). He is an invited Member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Interfacial Phenomena and Heat Transfer (IPHT). Multiple times he served as AE and GE (for SIs) of the ASME Journal of Heat Transfer (JHT)/Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer (JHMT) and the ASME Journal of Nanotechnology in Engineering and Medicine (JNEM). He received 17 US patents and more than 200 peer-reviewed publications from his research work involving bio/micro/nanotechnologies, phase change heat transfer (multi-phase flows) and engineering ethics at Applied Biosystems Inc./ABI (Applera/ Life Technologies), NanoInk Inc., Coventor Inc., Tata (India) and TAMU.
