Shortly after agreeing plans for publication of this book Ian died unexpectedly. A bibliography of his published and unpublished writings is included in the book. An editorial team led by Ann Wheal worked on the manuscript to prepare it for publication. The manuscript as Ian left it contained the view that this is the only work we are aware of that allows a reader to assess their susceptibility and the susceptibility of their children to addiction, tell them why they are at risk and then tell them how to do something about it before it's too late.
