A pioneering text at the time, today it can be read in its historical context. This book is a re-issue originally published in 1937. Dr William A. (Alvin) Bryan (1883-1944) was at the time of his death one of the most significant administrators of psychiatric hospitals. Throughout his years of service he promoted the greater utilization of the public mental hospital as a force for good in the community and as a teaching institution in psychiatric and related fields.
