Overview

The management of acute pain in the emergency room constitutes a medical challenge of primary importance. Every year, millions of people around the world present to emergency rooms with pain caused by various pathologies. It is imperative that healthcare professionals are equipped not only with theoretical knowledge, but also with the practical skills necessary to effectively assess and treat this pain. In Algeria, like the Maghreb, and despite significant advances in the field of pain research in recent decades, inadequate pain control remains more often the rule than the exception. Most emergency departments do not have a well-codified protocol according to international recommendations and the treatment of acute pain is very often haphazard. With this work, we hope to create an essential tool for emergency physicians and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of acute pain in emergency departments.
