Overview

This book is a result of the investigative attempts of linguistics professionals to identify and meet the challenges of developing communicative competence in future engineers, economists and other such specialists. The unifying feature of all the contributions brought together here is the active involvement of the authors in practical instruction of English for specific professional purposes at the tertiary (bachelors’ and masters’ programs) level in Russia. Author Information

Natalia A. Gunina heads the Department of International Professional Communication at Tambov State Technical University, Russia. Her research interests are course design and materials development for teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and Business English, ICT in Foreign Language Teaching (FLT), blended learning and cross-cultural communication. She has published a number of articles in national journals and presented at international conferences, and has been a member of the Organizing Committee for two international conferences on teaching English for Specific Purposes. She has also co-authored a number of course books for students of non-linguistic majors, the most recent being Business English: Introductory Course (2013) and Effective Communication (2014).
