OverviewThis book is about decisions. Across many organisations, artificial intelligence is discussed extensively. Far less attention is given to the question of why it should be used, which problems genuinely require resolution, and which consequences follow from its introduction. Systems are adopted, processes adjusted and initiatives launched, yet orientation does not emerge automatically from these activities. The book addresses people who carry responsibility and are required to make decisions. It does not offer instructions, comparisons of tools or quick solutions. Its focus lies on the organisational conditions under which the use of AI becomes meaningful, as well as on situations in which restraint represents an expression of leadership. Within organisations, AI acts as an amplifier of existing structures, routines and decision-making logics. It reveals how decisions are prepared, where responsibilities are clearly anchored and where accountability becomes blurred in everyday practice. This effect can bring clarity, while at the same time demanding reflection and engagement. Reading this book does not lead to greater certainty. It leads to better questions. Questions about which decisions truly matter, how they are made, and what role technology should play within that process.
