VANIA SMITH-OKA is Nancy O'Neill Assistant Professor of Anthropology, as well as a Faculty Fellow at the Kellogg Institute for International Studies, at the University of Notre Dame. GABRIEL E. CANTARUTTI is a PhD candidate in anthropology at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
