There has been no full-length text discussing the academic library system. The few books available are written for the librarians alone. Holding the rank and status of University Professor, Dr Shri Nath Sahai has been University Librarian at the University of Jodhpur, Rajasthan (India) from 1976 to 1988, where from he has since retired. Before this assignment, he was at the Bihar University, Muzaffarpur and as Documentation officer at the Research Library of the AN Sinha Institute of Social Studies, Patna. He was awarded a Ph.D. Degree in 1969 for his empirical research on the subject.Library And The Community . His Thesis, already published (1973) was adjudged as.a remarkable and praiseworthy contribution to library literature.
