Excerpt from Abstract of an Account of Recent Archaeological Excursions in Wisconsin and Ohio, Given at the Meeting of the American Antiquarian Society, October 22, 1883 Prof. Frederick W. Putnam gave an account of his recent excursions in Wisconsin and Ohio. His paper, on motion of Dr. Green, was referred to the committee of publication, but as the author wishes to make further researches in both regions before publishing a detailed account of the ancient earthworks which he examined, a brief abstract only of his remarks is given here. During the excursions Mr. Putnam was accompanied by his friend and pupil, Mr. John Cone Kimball, who took photographs of many of the works.
