They reveal a Lincoln who entertained with stories and jokes, grew into adulthood with a passion for learning, and showed empathy for the underdog throughout his life. His personality, physical strength, curiosity, and drive drew people to him. They witnessed his struggle to rise above the circumstances of his birth and responded with encouragement and kindness.Throughout his life, Lincoln extended kindness to people rich or poor, healthy or handicapped, friend or foe. Author Information

Deborah Klim began the study of presidential history during her teen years. She has since traveled throughout the United States, visiting presidential libraries, museums, and birthplaces. Her interest in Abraham Lincoln developed in 2010 following a talk by Doris Kearns Goodwin at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston. Goodwin's portrayal of Lincoln in ""A Team of Rivals"" revealed a multifaceted character: tough but tender, humane but principled, funny but focused. Fascinated, Deborah decided to devote her time and attention to Abraham Lincoln exclusively. In 2023, Deborah traveled from Colorado to Springfield, Illinois, to provide tours at the Lincoln Home National Historic Site and the Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site. This hands-on experience allowed her to immerse herself in Lincoln's history and share it with others. She returned to the Lincoln Home in 2024, and hopes to visit often in the future.Deborah's interactions with visitors from across the country and around the world at the Lincoln Home, where Abraham and Mary lived for seventeen years, inspired her to write a book. She noticed people were most interested in the personal stories that revealed the man behind the legend. They loved the small details that brought him to life and made him relatable.Since kids often asked the best questions, she decided to target middle and high school students. Thus, Abraham Lincoln: How Kindness Made a Difference was born. Contact Deborah at Lincolnusa16@gmail.com
