Overview

Beginning in May of 2007, noted comic writer and illustrator Don Lomax (MARVEL's The Punisher, CALIBER COMIC's Vietnam Journal) teamed up with Police and Security News magazine to produce the series ""Above and Beyond"" - real life depictions of heroic acts by law enforcement professionals. Just as our soldiers here and abroad deserve recognition for their unwavering service, so do the men and women who protect and serve the citizens of the United States. Contained within these pages are just a few stories of these individuals who have demonstrated selfless bravery and heroic action under the most difficult circumstances and gone above and beyond the call of duty.

DON LOMAX was drafted into the army in the fall of 1965. In 1966 he was deployed to Vietnam, serving in the 98th Light Equipment Company. During his tour of duty he made notes and sketches that would become his reference material for the Harvey Award-nominated VIETNAM JOURNAL, published by Caliber Comics. In addition to VIETNAM JOURNAL, Lomax contributed stories to TWO-FISTED TALES, created the mini-series HIGH SHINING BRASS about covert operations in Vietnam, and was also the the writer for 'THE NAM and THE PUNISHER for Marvel Comics. Lomax has four children. His two sons are in the military, one a Chinook crew chief and the second a Green Beret in the First Special Forces Group. Lomax lives in Illinois with his wife Zenadia.
