Overview

A criptorquidia, ou testículo oculto, é definida pela interrupção da migração testicular em qualquer ponto do seu percurso embrionário normal. A ausência permanente do testículo no escroto e no canal inguinal caracteriza o testículo não palpável. Os testículos não palpáveis representam 20 a 30% dos casos de criptorquidia. Na ausência de tratamento, a evolução pode ser marcada por duas complicações: a esterilidade e a degeneração, justificando assim uma intervenção cirúrgica precoce. A laparoscopia representa o padrão-ouro tanto a nível diagnóstico como terapêutico.
