Overview

Defying her feckless boss, Katya agrees to help a family of fishermen survey the crab stocks in hopes of overturning the closure of the fishery. Out on the water, far from town, she must first defend her survey protocol against the powerful instincts of the captain, Rolf Gunnerson. She must then defend herself against the advances of Rolf's son, Eric. Finally she must defend herself against her own powerful attraction to Rolf's nephew, Jake. When an accident sends her overboard into the frigid Alaskan water and injures Eric, the trip is cut short. A whole new set of obstacles await them in town. Katya has already lost her apartment. Will she also lose her job? Will their partial survey be enough to reopen the fishery? Will she summarily be sent on her way to wait tables and make beds until she can scrape together enough money for a plane ticket back to the Lower 48? And what about Jake?
