Colin Marsden is one of the most prolific and knowledgeable writers and commentators on the modern railway scene in Britain today, and has a long list of successful publications to his name. For Ian Allan Publishing he is best known for the annual abc Rail Guide, abc Traction Recognition and abc DMU & EMU Recognition Guide. A resident of Dawlish in Devon, he is an expert on the railways of the local area and regularly writes and commentates on local railway issues. He has written Britain's Scenic Railways: Dawlish recently for the Ian Allan list.
