Margaret Remilton Retired Library Assistant and Grandmother of 4 Author InformationAbout Kathy ... Kathy Littlemore is a fulltime author and bookworm and a part time world adventurer. Her 2015 journey into the unknown saw the writer from Down Under in the Arctic, looking for polar bears to photograph in the wild. Diverse subjects spanning travel, fishing, photography and the share market earned her non fiction articles a loyal following. Her dry humour and fishing tales secured her place in the male dominated writing niche, resulting in an invitation to join a fishing charter, much coveted by her husband, of Cape York Peninsula. A calendar clash meant declining the invitation in favour of packing up house and relocating to an island in the Gulf of Carpentaria where she became known as ""Barra Woman""! Kathy's Mum always said to ""expect the unexpected where Kathy is concerned."" It was no surprise to her when her youngest daughter with no children started writing children's picture books aimed at reluctant readers. The love of reading and bookworm gene were ignited on Kathy's first visit to the library at age two. Grateful to her parents for what she considers a truly great gift, Kathy believes all children deserve the joy and inspiration that getting lost in a good book provides. The newly wed Kathy gave away her childhood book collection to a young neighbour struggling with her relationship with her stepmother. Escape into imaginary worlds helped diffuse the child's emotional turmoil. Today, Kathy is rebuilding her cherished library in her spare room.Kathy was awarded ""Highly Commended"" in the inaugural Australian Writer's Marketplace Essay Competition. She was twice Regional Winner (Queensland and Northern Territory) and national runner up for her research papers for the Arthur Dennison Baking Industry Scholarship Awards. Touring iconic Australian bakeries and allied businesses made up for not winning an all expenses paid trip to the Chicago bakery scene, TWICE!Living in rural Australia with her husband and Dalmatian, Kathy has a rich tapestry of interests. When not writing or running her publishing business, Read Connect Create she can be found reading, watching Nordic Noir on SBS television, teaching herself digital drawing, delving into the realms of social integration and small business, learning new photography skills or cooking her way around the world. Glass fusing has her stumped as mastering the art of cutting glass is not as easy as it sounds.Blessed with experiencing travel to much of the world, Kathy's favourite trip is to the Library for a good book and a hot cappuccino!
